Frequently asked questions

How do I add a city?
Tap the search box at the top of the home screen and start typing a city name. Pick a result to add it as a card. You can save up to 5 cities.
How do I add a Home Screen or Lock Screen widget?
Long-press an empty area on your Home Screen, tap the + in the top-left, search for Clockside, pick a widget size, then tap the widget after placing it and choose Edit Widget to select which saved city it should track. Lock Screen widgets work the same way — long-press your Lock Screen and tap Customize.
Why does the "good time to call" status seem off?
The status uses local clock time and a few rules about waking, working, eating, and sleeping hours for that time zone. It can't know someone's personal schedule (night-shift workers, very early risers, weekend travel). Treat it as a friendly default, not a guarantee — when in doubt, send a message instead of calling.
How often does the weather refresh?
Cards refresh when you open the app or pull down to refresh. Widgets refresh on iOS's schedule — usually every 15-30 minutes, depending on battery and how often you check the widget. Forecast data comes from Open-Meteo and updates hourly at the source.
Where did my saved cities go?
Your cities are stored on your device, not in the cloud. They'll disappear if you delete and reinstall the app, switch devices, or clear app data. We don't sync between devices yet — if this matters to you, let us know by email so we can prioritize.
Does Clockside work without internet?
The clocks keep ticking offline because they're computed locally from the time zone. Weather, air quality, and city search all need a connection — if you're offline, the last fetched values stay on the card with a stale indicator.
How do I delete my data?
Everything we store on your device disappears when you delete the app. We don't hold any account or personal information server-side. If you joined the waitlist on the web with your email, email us and we'll remove it from our list.

Found a bug?

The fastest path to a fix is an email with these details:

  • What you did, step by step
  • What you expected to happen
  • What actually happened
  • Your device + iOS version (e.g. iPhone 15, iOS 17.5)
  • A screenshot or screen recording if visual
